Butte is a city in Silver Bow County, Montana. It is approximately 85 miles from Bozeman to the east and approximately 69 miles from Helena to the north. The city lies near the intersection of two major freeways: Interstate 90 and Interstate 15.
Butte was first established in 1864 as a mining camp and it was the first industrial city of Montana. It was one of the largest copper mining town in the western America. Mining employment attracted people from Asia and Europe particularly the Irish, and the city has one of the largest population of Irish-American compared to other cities in the United States. The city offers several tourist attractions including museums, mining landmarks, and mansions.
